Peak Retreat

Project Description

In 2016 we headed to Napa Valley for a celebration event that we called the Peak Retreat, with "Peak" being a play on the name Apex (the highest point) but also to tying in the nature element of the trip. On top of some incredible team building activities, we also hosted a keynote session to share some of the projects we had been working on and to cast the vision for the future of the company. All of this was tied into creating a "Pursuit of Perfection" culture (or, POP Culture) moving forward. I did some of the key event planning, as well as put together the branding and keynote presentation. I also shared some of the projects my team had completed, including the "Apex Story" popup book and launch of the new Apex Shop.

Keynote Graphics

This is a composite image I made for use in the Keynote presentation. I wanted to use a mountain peak to incorporate the name of the event. The tree motif in the foreground ties in the nature element of some of our team building activities, but it also eludes to the company’s mission of energy efficiency and environmental stewardship. The aurora borealis and moonshot are there to invoke a sense of adventure and wonder inherent in the Apex culture..

Limited Edition Glow Hoodie

We typically like to do some kind of event swag, and since it was December and it was going to be cooler outside, we put together these limited edition glow in the dark hoodies. The peak and moonshot motif from the event graphics were incorporated into the design (and lent themselves well to a glow effect). They definitely grab attention (day and night) and their butter-wash treatment makes them super comfy!

Photography

I shot a lot of photos while we were there to be used in various marketing collateral. Some of the shots made their way into our portfolio literature and website, others were used for recruiting purposes.

Recap Video

After the event I pulled together some footage I shot as well as some submitted by other attendees and edited a little recap video to use as a franchisee/recruiting piece. I created some 3D titles and did some motion tracking and rotoscope masking to highlight some of the amazing activities we did while we were there.
